Carolina Noriega (she/her/ella) is a first year PhD student in the Human Development and Family Science doctoral program at the University of Arizona. Her interests in research focus on Hispanic/Latinx populations, specifically adolescents and young adults (AYAs), and how intersecting social experiences (e.g., religion, culture, family) interact to influence their risk for or resilience against anxiety, stress, and depression. One of her goals includes conducting work that contributes to fostering safe environments for those who face greater daily risk of discrimination and judgement, including those who fall under the sexual and gender minority group. She is also interested in studying the trajectories of longer lasting effects that AYAs may experience in terms of wellbeing, academic performance, and personal development. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Arizona.
